Will Courington was born and raised in Longview, TX, and graduated from Trinity School of Texas. He earned his BBA from Baylor University, majoring in Finance, Economics, and Real Estate. He also earned his MBA with a concentration in Finance from Southern Methodist University. Will is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a non-CPA member of the AICPA, holding the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) designation.
Experience
Will’s professional background now spans almost twenty years. After graduating from Baylor, he moved to Dallas from 2006 until 2017. While there, he gained valuable expertise in various roles, including commercial lending, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, real estate brokerage, and property management. His final position was as a valuation analyst for a prominent M&A advisory firm, Generational Equity. Through these roles, Will gained a broad range of experience in finance, accounting, and business management.
After moving back home to Longview with his family in 2017, Will joined Gollob Morgan Peddy, PC, in Tyler, Texas. While there, he helped provide a variety of business valuation, forensic accounting, litigation support, and consulting services to attorneys and clients throughout Northeast Texas. In 2020, Will left Gollob Morgan Peddy to partner with Nick Burkett and The Burkett Firm, PC, to continue providing similar services through a new partnership, Burkett & Courington, LLC, and a satellite office in Longview.
Over the years, Will has gained extensive knowledge of complex accounting and finance issues and issues involving real property and/or oil and gas assets. He understands and enjoys working with small business owners, and he is passionate about applying his analytical mind to help clients solve difficult problems and navigate once-in-a-lifetime challenges/situations.
Personal Life
Outside of work, Will loves traveling with his wife, Kate, and their children, with Australia being a favorite destination as Kate’s home country. He is passionate about spending quality time with his two boys, whether spending time outdoors, playing sports/games together, or cheering them on from the sidelines. Will also enjoys reading, cooking, and supporting the Trinity School of Texas, where he has actively served in various volunteer leadership roles.
