Experience
Will has developed his accounting knowledge through an extensive professional background that spans more than 15 years in public and industry accounting.
Will worked his way through college, working 2 years at an industrial production plant where he learned the introduction to all aspects of a business and handled all introductory accounting responsibilities. From there, he went into the public sector at Axley and Rode, LLP, during his graduate school years. This is where his passion for public accounting became a realization.
After graduating from SFASU, Will was recruited by Henry & Peters, PC, in Tyler, Texas. During his time at H&P, he deepened his knowledge of public accounting, working in the fields of business valuation, audit, small business accounting, and tax planning and preparation. After 4 years of employment, he decided a big firm was not the end goal for him and his family.
In 2018, Will was approached by Nick Burkett to explore the options of transitioning to a smaller firm. Through working with Nick, Will discovered his passion to be a well-rounded and trusted advisor to successful entrepreneurs and small business owners from all walks of life. As a shareholder and CPA at The Burkett Firm, Will gets to live out his passion every day.

In his spare time, Will enjoys spending time with his wife and boys doing anything outdoors, reading, hunting/fishing, and exercising.
